A people in waiting

Keep your lamps burning
The Lord spoke very clearly this morning time with Him.

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be too. Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately." (full text, Luke 12:34-48)

I am at a decision crossroad at this point in time, so this is very much a word in season. But God unpacked and opened up these verses in a way I didn't expect...

The following was what the Lord said:

"Be a people in waiting, but be neither eager or idle, but be vigilant in waiting. Do as I show and reveal to you, not as you know. Your wisdom is not My wisdom and My ways not your ways. Do not steer to the left or to the right, but hold My word as a lamp to your feet. Be as a pilgrim who travels light and whose place is not of this world, carrying not treasures of this world that weigh you down but treasures in heaven.

And in this pilgrimage, seek, sow, plant and reap. Seek first the kingdom. Sow seeds of righteousness. Plant trees that are a haven of My grace and a shelter for the needy. And reap the fruits of your labour.

This is My word for today. Do not be weary in doing good. But be vigilant in where I want you to go and what I want you to do. Abide in Me."
For me, His words here are a reminder of how we can walk the talk in terms of our Christian lives, but yet not capture the essence of what it means to abide in and follow Him. We end up filling our lives with this thing called "Christian ministry" - events, programmes and other church group activites; and yet we may still miss exactly what He wants us to do and where He wants us to be. No wonder we are sometimes weary and do not feel like we are fruitful. We can sow and plant, but are we sowing where He is directing us to sow, and watering to when conditions are favourable?

Casting nets at the right time and place. I for one need to be wise to heed what the Lord said to me today.

The Lord has spoken beautifully to you. I believe in the power of a seed rightly sown, and what you have outlined here is so necessar for the world today.
I will heed this. thank you.

Hi Iepi- thank you for affirming what has been written.

To be honest, those words from the Lord were very personal and I was hesitant whether to share it. However, I sensed that God could use what He said in some way outside my present circumstances for others, so I did.

Anyway, may the Father richly lead you into His purposes for your life as you faithfully obey Him.

Peace & grace,
~Sallibuc

p.s. I look forward to more thoughts from your blog as well.

What a blessed Word you've received, my brother. A blessing for me, as well. I am reminded of David's words in the Psalms - "Be still and wait for the Lord." So true, in days like these.
I struggle with my impatient nature far too much. Never a good thing. All prayers are appreciated!

Peace, love and casting the nets...
