Prodigal Heart's Cry

I am visiting my gran who had a critical cancer operation almost a year ago. She is stable, although in what I would consider 'living in the grace of God', which is given to her at this time. There is a certain sacredness even though things are not perfect, when we keep going back to the Father - much like the story of the prodigal son.

A thousand heartaches, a million tears
Through perfect Love, taking our fears
With You, we find our heart's true home
A Love we have never known
With open arms, a Father's embrace
A Son's blood, a past erased
A kiss from Heaven, taking our shame
With nailed scared hands, engraving our name
More than words could ever say
More than a sacrifice to pay
For a sinner's cry and a child's plea
If not for You, where would we be?

In lean times, our 'will in remembering' is something we need to exercise. Recognizing the poverty of the past and God's hand in taking us out of our miry clays, gives us hope.
